I have been working on creating a new space for my blog and my shop– and it’s up and ready and I can’t wait for you to have a look around!
In November of last year, I started this crazy little journey of opening up my shop to sell hand painted burlap signs. I started selling them on this blog, and then quickly opened shop on Etsy as well! It’s been a fun six months of painting, learning as I go, and creating sketches and custom orders. I love being able to create different designs to fit exactly what my customers need.
Bluegrass Burlap was a long time in the making. I made my very first burlap hoop for my own front door about three years ago {read about it here!} I wanted something personalized and had something specific in mind and decided to just create my own. Once I did, a friend asked if I sold them… and I kind of laughed it off thinking nobody would pay me to paint them one! And it’s been a little idea in the back of my mind since then. Fast forward to November 2017, and I bit the bullet. I had all these design ideas for Christmas paintings and I wanted to try them out! And so I went to the store that day to buy all the supplies and started painting. And painting. I was overwhelmed with how many Christmas orders I received and knew that I wanted to keep going.
I created a shop on my site, had a logo made, ordered some business cards, and just powered on! I’ve been taking chance after chance, sometimes failing and sometimes finding success. I’ve applied to a few maker markets in Lexington and have been accepted into two– so be on the lookout for news on dates and locations! I’ll have a booth set up and be selling my paintings! It’s like a dream come true- somebody pinch me!
But wait, I know what you are thinking! WHAT ABOUT THE BLOG?
Now the blog and shop are one- Bluegrass Burlap. I will still bring posts about motherhood, life in the bluegrass state of Kentucky, recipes and fitness. All the same content I’ve been writing about… but will have an added spice of my paintings too! I’ll recap what I’ve learned from opening on Etsy and let you in behind-the-scenes on my shop!
I knew that Go Big or Go Home would be a space for me to document our life and I feel like over the years it has slowly grown and evolved into something different. Because of that, I want the name to reflect the direction of where I’m going.
Thanks for hanging in there with me! I’m excited to continue with this space and grow my shop at the same time. Happy Friday!
