Good morning! It’s Monday again and I’m ready to tackle the week! I had a deep clean last night of the kitchen after the boys went to bed, which lead me to deep clean the floors in the living room and do a little organization of the toys, too. So when I woke up this morning it looked amazing! I love waking up to a clean and organized living space! Anyone else just love that? It’s worth the work the night before because I hate starting my day off with a messy living room or kitchen.
This weekend was packed with family time and some cold weather- so let’s start on Friday night!
Friday was filled with loads of laundry and prepping for our short trip to Louisville Friday night. I felt like I would take two steps forward and like, five steps back! Getting ready to leave and packed up with two kids around is no joke. But we packed and cleaned and checked off our to-do list so we were ready to drive when Matt got home from work! We were on the road by 4:30pm to drive the hour and a half to my sister’s apartment in Louisville! Kelly had been planning to run a 5k for some time now, and has been training diligently for months! And since it was her first 5k we wanted to do it together.
When we arrived she had yummy homemade soup, bread, and salad for us for dinner which was perfect as the weather was so chilly and rainy! It made us a little nervous for the race the next day! After dinner we let the boys play and run off some energy inside while we set up their beds. Benji still sleeps in a pack’n’play when we travel, but for Jude we created a little toddler bed on the floor out of pillows and blankets covered in a sheet- and it worked perfectly. He thought it was like a sleepover since we were all sleeping in the same room!
Saturday morning was race day! The boys woke up around 6:30am, which was perfect so we all had enough time ti sip on coffee, eat a good breakfast, and prep to leave around 7:45am to head over to Cherokee Park for the Pumpkin Spice 5k! We all got out the door on time and arrived at the park around 8am. Matt had the boys in one car, and Kelly and I drove in another. We picked up our t-shirts and running numbers, then ran back to the car for some heat while we waited for the start time at 9am!
We had so much fun running together. Each of us had our music going in headphones and we laughed and did signals to each other during the race. It was a beautiful, brisk morning for a run and the rain held off and the sun started to peak out behind the clouds as we started at 9:00am. The boys were cheering us on from the stroller all bundled up close to the last mile of the race and it was so encouraging to see them!
Our goal was to run without stopping and finish around the 30 minute mark– which we accomplished both goals! The last half mile or so was all up-hill, which was a killer way to end the race. Afterwards they had coffee and snacks for us, and we walked back to the warm car after a quick stretch. Then we met up with the boys back at Kelly’s apartment.
The rest of the day was relaxing, filled with warm showers, Mexican bowl lunches, a walk to a local fair, and naps for the boys. We had a great time hanging out and we can’t wait to go back and visit again. After the boys napped we packed up the car and got ready to head back to Lexington. The boys did really well in the car and were happy to be home after a busy two days!
Once the boys were in bed Matt had some grading to do and we watched a bit of Stranger Things 2. Have you started it yet?! You’ll get sucked in, just like the first one so be ready!
Matt was working the sound board for church on Sunday morning, so he left around 7am while the boys and I had a slower morning of breakfast and reading before heading to church around 9am. We took the rest of the day to finish up more laundry and things around the house, meal prepping for the week ahead, and getting things picked up!
Tomorrow is Tuesday Talk, so be ready to link up with me right back here starting at 7am EST. I have a fun park workout for you tomorrow- so be sure to check back!
