The littlest member of our family is now seven months and I just about can’t handle it! He’s a sweet, smiley, loveable little guy and a great addition to our family.
Likes: being tickled, watching his brother, sitting up by himself, cuddling
Benji is a great eater! He has been eating baby food for two months now and he is downing it. He loves sweet potatoes, carrots, and bananas. He wasn’t super excited about the foods at first, but now he knows the drill and gets super excited when the spoon gets close to his mouth!
As for the bottles, he is going strong! He eats about four ounces every three hours or so. But it has to be quiet and nothing happening around him or he is way too distracted to eat. Benji loves to see what’s going on around him and doesn’t want to miss a beat.
Since taking Benji out of the swaddle, we had some tough weeks with him sleeping. He is still getting up every 3 or so hours, but not always to eat… sometimes he just needs a little bit of comforting. BUT all that said, he slept through the night once. From 10:30pm until 5:30am. But then he went right back to waking up frequently. But, he is just seven months old. It won’t last forever, right?
This kid is starting to move! He loves to be in his bouncy seat to jump, he likes his activity mat still and kicks his little legs and moves himself backward. He does a good job rolling back and forth and back and forth. And he is a strong little guy- holding his head up high when he is on his tummy and really controlling his movements.
Benji is doing good with his schedule, for the most part. There are days when the schedule goes out the window, and days when he works well with keeping it up. Mostly we try to keep him awake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours and then attempt a nap. I’m working on not rocking him to sleep for those, but that’s never a guarantee. Mostly he wakes up around 5:30 or 6ish and normally wakes up pretty happy! I’m thankful for a happy baby!
Seven Month Old Essentials
Sleep Sack: Now that we can’t use a swaddle, we’ve tried using a sleep sack to keep Benji snug and safe when he sleeps. He doesn’t like it as much as a swaddle, but he is learning!
Banana Teether: Benji got this for Christmas and it’s been a life saver– thank you Auntie Erika! It’s easy for him to hold, can chew it on any end he likes, and seems to sooth his gums.
Beechtree Baby Food: I’m still thinking about doing baby-led weaning like we did with Jude but for now we are using these baby foods. The ingredient list on these are my favorite. If it’s a jar of pureed carrots, there is just one thing on the ingredient list: carrots. But he does a good job eating about a quarter to half of a jar of food twice a day.
Bandana Bibs: Another fabulous Christmas gift from Auntie Jenny– bibs! But they are bandana bibs- so stinking cute! He drools like crazy with the teething and I was changing his shirt over and over again, and this takes care of that problem!
JJ Cole Diaper Bag: With two kids, a backpack is a must for me. My hands are free, and I can easily sling that bag on my back and go!
Let’s link up for Tuesday talk! Let me know what’s been going on with you!
