Hello Monday! What a fun weekend we’ve had here in Lexington- with snow! If you’ve been reading for a while or know me personally, you know that I am not a fan of winter. I would rather have sunny skies and warm temps all year around. But we live in Kentucky where the winters are cold and snowy. And Jude loves it.
Friday
Our weekend started early when Matt’s school called a snow day for Friday. NO SCHOOL! Snow Day #1! We bundled up after blueberry pancakes and coffee for the parents, and we headed outside to play! Jude was so excited to be out there in real snow, especially after reading books about snow all year through!
We went back out several times to play, in the front and in the back, using sticks to hit the snow and make letters and shapes, trying to find ice patches on the sidewalk, and making our noses red. It was a great day.
Saturday
Matt watched the boys Saturday morning and I went to a workout without the boys! It was a nice change of pace since I normally workout with them three times a week. And then I did what every mom wants- a trip to the food store by myself! It was a great morning.
Sunday
There was still snow on the ground by Sunday and it was freezing outside. So we just bundled up and continued on to church in the morning. Then stayed in during the afternoon to keep out of the cold and try to get Benji to nap. He’s struggling in the sleep department again, but what six month old doesn’t?
But around 4pm we ventured out again to drop some things off to sell at Half Price Books and then to Bone Fish Grill for some dinner. We don’t go out to eat very much, partly because we have two small kids and partly because it can get expensive! But we had a gift card and decided to go there for an early dinner. And it was so good! I got grilled chicken with goat cheese and spinach and it was yummmmmmmmy. And the boys did so well for the hour and a half that we were there. The secret with having Jude with us is to use a booth. That way he can stand and move around on his knees and eat and dance. And boy did he love the 90’s remix pop hits that were piped through the speakers.
I wish I had taken a picture while we were there, but it was such a good family time it didn’t even cross my mind. We chatted and ate and left, not worrying about the dishes or cleaning up the crumbs on the table. No clean up might be even better than not having to cook!
That wraps up our weekend! I’m excited for some good workouts this week, visits from college friends, and a night out with girlfriends next weekend. Be on the lookout for a fun at-home workout this week!
Nice weekend! Glad Jude loves booths… good tip for eating out!
IT was a nice weekend! 🙂 and the booths are a lifesaver!
