In the past, I’ve picked a word to focus on for the year. But this year it hasn’t seemed like one word was enough. It’s more of a phrase, a little mantra to tell myself throughout the day.
More present in the moment, more eye contact with who is there, more real life. Less scrolling through instagram, less email checks, less texting.
I know what you’re thinking- less texting? Less instagram? Yes, especially when the kids are awake and Matt and I have a few minutes to ourselves.
And that’s it. Simple, but attainable and good for the whole family. I don’t want my kids growing up thinking it’s normal to be glued to our phones instead of people around us.
I’m hoping this little change will slowly mean several big changes. More one-on-one time with each boy, less comparison to others, focus on creating a home for our family, more time to chat with Matt, less distraction. It’s going to be a challenge I’m sure. There isn’t much down time when there are two little ones at home that need my attention. But everyone keeps telling me that the days are long and the years are short; to take in all the time and small moments with these boys. And I don’t want to miss out on the moments.
Link up below and let me know your goals for this new year. And if you don’t have a blog, let me know in the comments!
