How long has it been since a Move it Monday? A while. A long while. Here is my last one and it’s from April when I was seven months pregnant with Benji!
And then I waited. I waited to workout and waited to talk about fitness on the blog- and I think it was because I was nervous to be doing any kind of workout after the baby. Like why would I be talking about fitness when I’m still working on losing of the baby weight? And that’s when I realized- why in the world would I not be sharing this journey? It’s tough for everyone to workout no matter what you struggle with, so let’s do this together!
So here we are. Two and a half months post partum and I’m jumping back into Move it Monday… on a Thursday. But it’s September 1st, so why not start now?! Moving and grooving and having fun while doing it. Here is my park workout I did with the boys in tow. We all needed an excursion out of the house and jogging to the park and working out was a way to get out of the house and complete my workout. Win-win. And Jude dug in dirt, picked up sticks, and found rocks, making sure to show each one to me, searching for my approval. All in all, a perfect outing with my boys.
Exercise 1: Squat Leg Lift
Push into your heels, leave the weight out of your toes, and alternate lifting your legs to the side.
Exercise 2: Push Ups with a Clap
I did these modified on a tree, but you can use a bench or make it harder by doing clapping pushups on the ground!
Exercise 3: Speed Skaters
Work more on jumping from side to side instead of jumping up. Reach toward your ankles when you land on each foot.
Exercise 4: Mountain Climbers
I modified this exercise as well- putting my hands on the tree instead of the ground or a bench. Do it at your own level! Alternate your legs, bringing them up to your chest.
Complete each exercise for 30 seconds, resting about 10 seconds before starting the next. You can run or jog between each round of exercises, but I did four rounds and then ran before and after. Whatever you need to do to get that heart rate up!
Cheers to a healthy day today and finding a way to move!
