This weekend was covered in food and friends. And it was great. I guess the food part comes with the territory at 32 weeks pregnant, but the friends was an added bonus that I loved. It all started on Friday…
Friday lunch was a highlight. I have two good girlfriends who both work- one is on maternity leave and one was able to sneak away for a lunch at my house. What I love about these friends is they can see my house crazy and not think twice. We are a come-as-you-are group and it’s the best. So we threw together some quesadillas with leftover ingredients that each of us had lying around the house. So good.
So we chatted over quesadillas, chips, and guac. And then Friday night was more food and friends- a mom’s night out! More Mexican food and chips- but I’m not complaining.
And for some reason we thought it was a good idea to play this jelly bean game in public. It’s pretty basic- you spin the spinner and it tells you which jelly bean to eat. The catch? Each jelly bean could either be a good flavor or a bad flavor. For example, in the photo below, I could have been eating chocolate pudding or wet canned dog food. It was equally entertaining and gross, but also a very fun way to spend an after-dinner evening!
Oh how I love Saturday mornings. Almost every morning during the weekday, Jude will wander into our bedroom when he wakes up, asking and looking for “Daddy?” and it’s the sweetest. But he is always disappointed when Daddy isn’t in bed, or anywhere in the house. So Saturday morning means he searches, and finds Daddy. It’s the best to see his little face light up with excitement.
We took it slow, eating breakfast and sipping coffee, enjoying our time together. And we had every intention in the world to really get some things done, but we were both feeling off that day and decided to lay low the entire day. And it was actually pretty nice.
Matt did get the shelves finished in the closet for Jude’s big boy room and I started organizing newborn clothes and Jude’s summer clothes. It gets worse before it gets better! A full room reveal will be coming soon.
Sunday I slept in while Matt woke up with Jude, which was a special treat! We did lots of playing outside when it was sunny, and snuggling and running around inside when it started to rain. It was a good mix.
Right now Jude is all about bubbles, so we sat on the back steps for literally over 30 minutes playing with the bubble wand and container. And he wouldn’t stop saying “bubbles. bubbles.”
It was a good, relaxing weekend overall! How was yours? Do anything crazy exciting?
