My to-do list before this baby comes is getting shorter and shorter! I had things ranging from super easy tasks (like remembering to pack one more thing in my hospital bag) to a little more time-consuming tasks (like finishing my pregnancy journal). I like to boost up my to-do lists with easier things so I can cross them off… who doesn’t do that, right?! It makes me feel so much better when more things are crossed off!
This small kitchen update has been on my list for a little while, and I just recently decided to get a move on! We have already done a lot of painting in the kitchen (you can check that out here) and it really is a great way to transform a space with little effort. After we painted the walls and the cabinets, installed a dishwasher and disposal, painted some kitchen art, painted wooden kitchen spoons, and sewn a new dish towel, I realized we left the small air vent on the floor in the dust.
Gross. Sorry, but you are going to see the down and dirty of my kitchen air vent. We will have lived here for two years this October, and I have never taken my air vent off to clean…. is that normal? Do people normally take the vents off the floor to clean? No idea….. Anyway, it all started with a good scrubbing of the floor under the vent and then also the actual vent.
Once I cleaned all the gunk off, I started the coat of paint. Instead of purchasing new paint, I used some white paint that I already had in the shed. After three coats it was ready to dry overnight and place right back in the floor!
AHHHH- so much better. It’s just a little change, but it makes me feel like the kitchen floor is cleaner now that this little vent is white! It’s the small things.
