Some bonds in friendship are strong and will survive over the years and over seas. Luckily there have been a few girlfriends from college whose friendships are important to me and have grown stronger over the years, even though we don’t live close to each other.
In the next few months, one will be going to live in Taiwan, another will return to live in Bolivia, and another will be all the way in Cincinnati, Ohio which is an hour and a half drive. At least one is close enough to drive to over a weekend. All four of us were in the country and the general area of my house, so we got together! We had a great time. I wish I had more pictures, but they would just be pictures of us laughing, eating, sitting around talking, eating some more, and talking about what we were going to eat next. We all have serious appetites.
One of my girlfriends, Meredith (who will be moving with her husband to Taiwan in September) pastor a church in the country. It was their last Sunday there and we all went with her. WHEW, talk about strong ties and special friendships. She has built some amazing relationships with the people of that small country church and we were able to experience it. How special.
Our Sunday was sunny, filled with driving on country roads, winding our way to her small, special place that she was leaving behind in Kentucky. Thanks girls for making the trip to my neck of the woods and sharing time, laughs, and hugs. We may not have been fully rested most of the weekend, but sleep was the only thing we lacked.
