What?! We had two more snow days after that first one? Why, yes we did. And they were wonderful. Why haven’t I posted since January 2nd? Well, I have been busy accomplishing my new years resolutions. (I didn’t even make any, but that’s pretty good for me since I am a list-maker kind of person.)
One snow day is permission to all school-workers to relax, stay in PJ’s all day, eat junk, and watch movies, all while believing it’s summer break that came early. The second snow day is just good luck, and you are so excited that it happened in succession with the first day, that you again are unproductive. I am speaking in general terms of what I know about first-hand, because this is exactly what our first two snow days looked like.
Our third snow day was actually a cold day. It was FREEZING and the students wouldn’t last 5 minutes waiting at a bus stop, so we cancelled school the night before. And that was the day we decided to go out and get something done! And believe you me, it was super cold. I could barely make it from the car to the store. Seriously. Cold.
But it was an important mission- Home Depot. Buying paint. For our bedroom! YAHOO! Who knew it could be this exciting?! It was. We bundled up and hauled ourselves out of the house and got in the freezing car that had trouble starting and made it to the Home Depot. We were so proud!
It was pretty sporadic, but that was part of why this project was so fun. Matt said, “Maybe we should go get some paint and paint our bedroom.” That was all I needed to hear. The paint swatch had been taped to the wall for a few weeks so I was ready.
You might be thinking- where has all your furniture gone?! Well, let me tell you. We moved it to the craft room. This way, every morning when we are getting ready we have to scramble all over the house to find each piece of our outfit for the day. Which will remind us that we still need to order new furniture, which we will do faster because we will be frustrated about running around the house. AND IT WORKED! We ordered furniture tonight and it will be here soon. I will of course share pictures once we get it all up.
