I think I have mentioned before that my family (mostly on my mom’s side) is super resourceful. And that term might be generous in the sense that we re-purpose things from garbage cans, the side of the road, our yards, etc. I used to make fun of my P.Pop and my mom about slamming on the car brakes to pull over and grab something off the side of the road. But now I am just embracing it- why not?
Decorating for Christmas is a blast, and our backyard is still a mess- so why not do something about both those things? I grabbed some twigs from our backyard and decided to turn them into decoration!
Grab those twigs, and start spray painting! I did this in the backyard, which was a good choice because my grass is now covered in white, with a few outlines of branches. Looks kind of like it snowed just in that six-foot section. I didn’t worry too much about getting the paint even, but I did make sure to turn the twigs over to spray the backs. I tried adding a little bit of red glitter, but that was a bust. The glitter was 1) cheap, 2) hard to sprinkle out, and 3) didn’t stick to the sticks! So there are pockets full of glitter, sparkling away all by themselves. Then I grabbed some small red ornaments at Big Lots (who doesn’t love that place?!) and hung them on. Brings a little cheer right when you walk in the front door.
