Matt and I have been married for 5 years now- FIVE! Crazy, let me tell you. And for that entire time, we have had a well-loved, pre-owned, not-so-steady-on-the-feet kitchen table. It was a hand-me-town times three (I think we were the third owners) and it has served us well. We were so thankful for the furniture that was given to us when we were married, because let’s face it, if it wasn’t given to us we probably just wouldn’t of had it. So thank you Vandenburg’s for the table you so generously gave us to eat off of for five years. It’s been swell.
We painted the cabinets, the walls, updated the hardware, added a disposal, added a dishwasher, and painted some accents in the kitchen. It was time to go big and just buy a new table. So we did! The process of putting it all together was so much easier then the recent projects we have been tackling, so it was a great change to mindlessly put together our new kitchen furniture. We knew it would still take some time, so we popped in The Last of the Mohicans (this was Matt’s first time watching it!) and went to town putting the legs on the table, chairs, and bench.
The first speed bump was getting all of our purchases home. Of course the store delivers, but it would have been an extra $75. We have a Honda Fit- and it fits everything. So we went for it. And let me tell you, it was the most uncomfortable drive I have ever done. My seat was pushed up as close to the steering wheel as it would go so all the boxes could fit in the back. Pain is beauty. Beauty is pain. However that goes…..
Then we unpacked it all, piled it in the living room, turned on the movie and went to town.
Here’s the before, during, and after. Super happy with the final product!
