Kitchen=Finished

The cabinets were hung today, the blue painters tape ripped off the walls, and most of the painting supplies were put away. The utensils were organized in their drawer organizers and the counters were cleared of all paint. Whew! The kitchen is back to normal again- the kitchen table is back in the kitchen. We ate dinner off real plates that were on the table and not our laps. It was magical.

There was ALWAYS something on the floor. Drawers drying, paint cans, sheets (read drop clothes), brushes, can openers.

Hopefully the last time we will ever see peach cabinets in our kitchen.

Crisp, clean white cabinets. So much better!

The drawers that are missing to the bottom left of the sink is where the dishwasher is going to go! I am sure it will be an adventure getting all that hooked up. Maybe I will just wait until my parents come down again…. Dad?

I like hanging things on my fridge, OK?

Oh the hanging basket? Yeah, it's one of the best features in the kitchen.

Now the two main events are completed- painting the cabinets and the walls- I can focus on adding the little details that I want. I have a painting in mind that I want to do for the walls, some pops of color, painting the laundry room that is off the kitchen, adding the dishwasher, changing out the outlet covers, and finding new lighting! All the fun stuff is left to do!

To celebrate, I baked a new cookie! Chocolate Peanut Butter Surprise Cookies, they are called. Weird, because it isn’t a surprise when the name of the cookie says “Peanut Butter Surprise”. They are chocolate cookies with peanut butter in the middle. Delish. I had to make a few adjustments to the recipe, but you can find it here. And yes, my cookies are double the size of the ones in her picture. Don’t judge. I was really hungry.

    Wow, what’s so crazy is that I am doing something semi opposite! First off, I have bumble-bee yellow ceramic tile with black trim, which is original to the home, circa 1950! If it lasted this long, I want to work with it as best I can. Last year, I really began the makeover by switching all white or white/black appliances with GE’s new ‘Slate’ color (getting to be known by ‘black stainless’). The black stainless goes great! Next, I colored the walls with a light lime green. Also, replaced the large, square florescent lighting fixture for an ultra-modern black-circular-rimmed chandelier. I love it so far!
    However, the challenge remains to be what I do with the cabinets and cupboards till I’m ready to replace them outright. I am looking at a very light peach, at least for now.
    Thank you for sharing!
    My cabinets on two walls are white. I put bronze handles on six years ago.
