No, we haven’t been working on our yard so much that it magically turned into a wonderful back yard space. I wish! This is my parent’s backyard- carefully landscaped, planted, and manicured. I need to take notes while I’m here. More than just mental notes, which is all I have done so far. The last day of school was yesterday and so far the only kind of notes I can take are of the mental nature. Once all the kids left, I packed up my desk and headed home to make the five hour drive to Ohio.
Taking a trip right after school is out makes the summer seem more final. No going back for a week more of kids and students learning, projects or paper work. I do have to work a few weeks after school is out, but there isn’t kids in the building so it is a whole new work environment. And it’s a lot quieter.
Since we took off so fast after work, we didn’t do an ounce of yard work at our place. We will- there is time. Maybe the next weekend? Or the one after that? Summer holds too many adventures that I don’t want to be stuck at home because I have projects on the agenda. Don’t get me wrong, I love house projects, but if there is a camping or hiking trip, a baseball game or cook out, you better believe I will put that project on hold for some summer festivities.
The biggest project on the summer list is the kitchen. It needs a lot of help! Painting and painting is what we will be doing- from the walls to the cabinets to the table and chairs. Hopefully it will look completely different by the end of the summer. Of course, you will be the first to know.
