Our backyard came to us covered in bushes. We thought it was great privacy and we would have to do some trimming, but that wouldn’t be too hard- right? Just a few leaves to rake, some trees to trim, and we would have the yard perfectly ready for summer enjoyment. Just so we all are on the same page, here is a picture of the backyard in October, when we bought the house.
You can’t tell, but there is a fence all the way around our yard- it’s just about 15 feet back from the trees/honeysuckle/bushes/who-knows-what-else. So we dug in this weekend. Yesterday we bundled the brush with twine and then raked up the smaller stuff to put in those paper bags for yard waste. I even bought AND used work gloves. They are cute too- pink and yellow and green with little designs on them. Super comfy. I feel unstoppable with them on. They are like my yellow rubber gloves that I use for cleaning inside. When I have them on, I can clean anything! Just like those, when I put on my working gloves, I feel like I can do anything! Except for that rotten log that had all kinds of bugs inside it. Gross. I ran in the opposite direction.
It took about two hours, but we got about 1/4 of the way through the mess. Matt had already gone to our forest with a chain saw back in October to try and make a path back to our fence, so that helped a lot in our gathering and bundling. Will this job ever be over?! We are at it again today. Hopefully we will make more progress!
