Hello world. That’s how WordPress suggests you start your first post. I know this isn’t my first post, but it feels like it! We have been out of town for spring break this past week and I feel like I’ve been gone a month. Which is actually a really good feeling. Going back to work today was hard (only the getting up early part was hard), everything else started to fall back into the rhythm of things. Good thing too, because I almost forgot what I was supposed to do, where I was supposed to go, appointments, passwords…. I drove to work on auto pilot. But once I got going, it was great.
We went BIG for our spring break this year. We are celebrating our 5 year anniversary at the end of May, and thought we should go for it. Now is the time! So we did. Just a few weeks before our spring break, we booked a resort and tickets to Cancun, Mexico! I hadn’t been out of the country before (well, only to Canada, which doesn’t really count) and I was super excited. Beach is my love language. And there was a ton of beach in Cancun. We did all sorts of things- sailing, walking, geocaching, snorkeling, shopping, rode public transportation, went to another city, relaxed, took naps, and ate. A lot of eating.
Now that I am back home, I feel a new appreciation for our little home. It isn’t a fancy resort, where I don’t have to cook or clean, but it is our little piece of something and we love it. Walking back into our house after a vacation felt so much different than walking back into a rental apartment. It felt good.
I also got a fresh eye on things. My next few projects (after I finish all the laundry we accumulated from our trip) are in the planning stages. I have some big projects on the horizon – maybe during summer break? But the good thing about owning your house, is you can do the projects when you please. Unless it’s a leaking roof, which we thankfully do not have. So after I recuperate and start feeling like a normal person again, and not the royalty I felt like on vacation, I am going to dive into some projects.
And of course I documented some of our fun moments at the beach. They may not look like much, but each holds a funny memory, happy thought, or hilarious moment that I don’t want to forget. Enjoy.
