The bookshelf is finally finished! Kinda. We finished painting, and even after drying for 24 hours, it was still a little sticky feeling. So Matt waited to put it all together until recently. That was an adventure all by itself. Those screws are so close to the edges of the wood that it was hard to fit a screw driver in the corners to screw in each screw. I promise, this bookshelf will never come apart again. Ever. I will just as soon buy a new bookshelf and put this one in a different room. WHEW! Glad this FOREVER-LONG project has finally wrapped up.
The only problem is that we haven’t put the books back on it yet. We would put something on the surface, and when we would go to pick it up, the item would almost stick on it. My super-smart dad said that maybe the paint hadn’t cured all the way because it has been kinda cold lately. So I put it in the sun today! Right by the sliding glass doors in the back of our house. Maybe in a few days I will finally put the books and bins of games back in their spots. Today is not that day. I figure I have lived with those items on the floor for the past three weeks, so why not wait a few more days?
Here are the final pictures from this project! I hope to move on to bigger and better things now that I am not dragging out pieces of bookshelf every night to lay on a sheet in the middle of my kitchen to paint. What will I do with all this time?!
