I’ve got super soft hands and legs! This body scrub that my sister and I made recently is FABULOUS. And all natural. We ran around like crazies one day and bought all the ingredients, made the stuff, packaged it in jars, and then packed up the jars in boxes to mail to all our favorites! (if you received a package from us, well, you just might be one of our favorites).
There is always a catch, though. We got up “early” on Saturday morning and started our adventure. We completed everything and ran it all to the post office to mail off. WHEW!….. and then we realized that the post office closes at noon on Saturday. We got there at 2pm. Boo. So, Kel had to mail it all off the next day. Oh well, we tried to be prepared.
We found a lot of recipes for body scrub online, and decided to use those as a reference. Neither of us had ever made this before, but we figured it can’t be that hard. We decided to make our own recipe. Go big or go home, right? So we went for it. Here was our supply list:
– Coconut oil, raw unrefined (one jar)
– Almond oil (about 1/2 cup)
– Sugar in the raw (a box and a half)
– Vanilla extract (few drops)
We blended the coconut oil with the almond oil a little at a time in my super cool new blender (Blendtec) until it was a smooth consistency. Those blenders are magical things. Then we stirred in the sugar in the raw and a little vanilla, and VIOLA- homemade body scrub. And boy does it. smell. good. Wowza. You could eat that stuff! Actually, when Nanny called to thank us for it, she asked if it was for eating or not because her husband wanted to put it on some toast…. I guess it’s edible. Sure, put it on toast!
And then came the fun part- decorating the jars. It was a Valentine’s Day thing, so we got out anything pink that I owned and tried to hot glue it to the jars. Ribbon lined the lids, monogrammed tags, and confetti. A box of scrubby joy.
Happy scrubbing! (and eating….)
