It never feels like home unless there are things hung on the walls. Thankfully, my husband is a stud- he can find those studs in the walls like no other man (thanks to the stud-finder of a friend down the street….. and his muscles to pound a nail through the wall even if there isn’t a stud.) So we started hanging some things up in the bedroom. When I say “we”, what I really mean is Matt is trying to hold up whatever we are hanging, find the center, hammer the nail in straight, and follow my directions. All I do is sit back and tell him “a little to the left” or “I don’t think that is centered on the wall”. He is so good to me. Here is Matt’s first swing of the hammer, putting the first hole in our walls!!
And after we hung my necklace holder (that I made!) and our new hooks for my scarves. Andy and Erika (Matt’s sister and brother-in-law) gave us these super cool hooks for a house warming gift. WE LOVE IT. I claimed it immediately after opening the gift, saying “This would be perfect for my scarves!” Matt didn’t stand a chance.
Ahhh, it feels so much better to have some things on the walls! I was hoping to get more up, but we realized that night we had run out of nails. So we decided to call it quits. I was bummed because I really wanted to put these super cute giraffe wrapped-canvas squares above the bed, but no such luck…. until I came home from work today.
I work at an elementary school as the school manager and just got back from an over-night field trip with the 5th graders. Wow, they have some crazy energy! It was a blast and I learned a lot. (I am pretty sure I would flunk 5th grade if I had to go back.) But when I got home, everything was clean, there were no dirty dishes, the rug was vacuumed, the laundry was done, and my giraffe squares were hung over the bed!!! My husband is the best.
