I did it! The new color is painted on the outside of the house and looks a ton better than the bright yellow we tried at first. Thanks for all the comments and feedback. I ended up going back to Home Depot and speaking with the same lady at the paint counter. She tried to add different tint to my bright yellow can of paint, but when I tested that out, I didn’t see any difference.
I took the can back for a second time, and this same lady at the paint counter helped me again. It was like I knew her work schedule or something…. I actually did know her work schedule. It worked out quite nicely. When I went back the third time, she gave me a whole new can of paint for free. This time it was a creamer yellow. While it was mixing, me and the paint lady had deep discussions about her childhood and her college days. I am not making this stuff up.
Here are some pictures of the house with our creamer yellow color as the trim. So much better! I don’t feel like I’ve been punched in the face when I drive up to the house, so that’s a big plus.
Matt and I went back to Home Depot again today to buy our paint for the living room. Hopefully I have found THE gray that I have been hoping for. And yes, the same paint lady was there today. She used to work in a camp in Maine and we heard all about the time she was the DD for her camp counselor friend in some little bar in Maine. Great times.
