Our backyard forest feels like it is creeping in from every direction. Matt has already spent hours back there trimming and whacking away at all the trees, but it still seems like it gets closer to our back door everyday.
We started with the trees coming in about 15-20 feet from each side, so our backyard was cut in half by what we are calling our forest.
Matt has dove right in so we can try and enjoy our yard. I have been pleasantly surprised by his determination to get this done! It might be because he gets to use a chain saw.
After Matt chopped and chopped, I still don’t feel like we have even made a dent into the forest, but more of just moved the forest closer to our back door. But we did start bundling up the twigs. Apparently they have to be a certain length and bundled in twine to be picked up by the side of the road. So we have been bundling and bundling.
It’s been slow going. I get too cold and always go inside before Matt does. He’s from Maine, so I think he likes it out there (that’s what I tell myself anyway). We’ve been having a great time learning as we go! More to come about our adventures in getting a whole new HVAC system….
