The outdoor projects have begun! Whew! Mr.Fix-It was determined to start painting before it got too cold and rainy here in Kentucky. This week was perfect weather for outside painting- 70’s and sunny. Our work schedule was not so perfect. Those full-time jobs always get in the way, right? So we just painted after work for a few days this week. Here is what the outside looked like before paint:
Just a boring tan color that blended right into the brick- yuck. (If the previous owners are reading this, it really wasn’t that bad. If they aren’t reading this – which is much more likely- let’s be honest and say the paint color was down-right a bad choice.) But before we could paint our plum-ish purple-ish color, we had to scrape off the chipping fleshy color with this little guy:
Luckily when I went to Home Depot (about the fifth trip in the past few days… They know me by name…) I met a professional painter in the painting aisle. I can only imagine what he was thinking when he saw me standing, staring at all the different tools and supplies. I had no idea there would be so many choices for brushes and rollers and scrapers and painty things! Glad I met him- he was super helpful and spoke to me like I actually knew what I was doing. Thanks to professional painters everywhere.

But the efforts paid off. Now when I drive up to our house, I feel like we actually have shutters and a door that are welcoming:
