Today was my first adventure in plumbing! Well, it actually started the first night we were here and I tried to do some dishes….
The kitchen sink wouldn’t drain at all. I’m talking no water was moving down the drain. None. We have some home-owner friends that had a snake. No, not a slithering gross snake, but a plumbing snake. Yes, there is a difference. If you’re not a home-owner, you wouldn’t understand. Mr. Fix-It had his first home emergency! I love doing dishes immediately. You put your fork down in my house, and I am ready to swoop in and wash it. Be careful and guard that fork if you aren’t finished eating.
Anyway, Matt snaked the drain. Still the water sat. So he snaked it again. And again. I even assisted in the snaking process because of course I would make it work. Still nothing.
What’s next after snaking?! Liquid plumber. Don’t know what that is? Well, I still don’t. But we used that. Twice. Still our sink was clogged!! I was washing dishes in our guest bathroom and wanted my kitchen back in order! After we tried everything we knew to do, I called my dad. (I actually called my magical dad from the beginning. I wouldn’t have known to do the snaking or liquid plumber or anything really besides look at the drain and ask ever so nicely why in the world it wasn’t draining!!) Since my dad is 5 hours away, he couldn’t be my personal plumber this time. We had to call the pros.
That’s where my before and after pictures come in. My first set of before and after. Luckily I didn’t have to do much to have a drastic change from one to the other. I basically just watched THE BEST plumber ever change my personal lake-in-a-kitchen back into my kitchen sink.
This will not be my final before/after in the kitchen. There is so much more to do! Paint the cabinets, get new hardware, paint the walls, and add finishing touches. But at least I can put away clean dishes again. Ahhhh, it feels so good.
